It can be amazing and full of useful features, but if the participants do not find quickly what they need or do not understand how it works , the app event will have little luck and will prove to be a bad investment. In the app event the most important aspect, what determines how and how much they are actually used , not the number of features they offer, but their usability, ie the ability to offer you a satisfying user experience from the point practical.

This was stated by Michael Douglas, commercial director of the company’s app for events Lanyon Mobile , that contribute to elaborate Event Report indicates the devices that make an app a tool for information and enjoyment of the event and not just another technological exercise to call now in your pocket.

The first trick is to design the app so to depend on the wi-fi is the minimum number of features . A voting system in real time or questions to the speaker during the session, for example, is an excellent way in which the app can develop interaction and enhance the experience of the event. But if the wi-fi is weak, it stops or not “hold” a sufficient number of devices, the good idea to become participants reason of annoyance and disappointment . Better to assess in advance the free app available and plan accordingly.

A second element to consider is that the mobile device may not be ideal to prepare for the event : for delegates is more comfortable to see the list of exhibitors, the seminar program or list of participants on the screen of a computer. If the event is integrated to the desktop app, delegates can fill your schedule from your home or office and find it as such on the mobile device. In this way the app becomes also a tool with a high level of persoanlizzazione, and not a mere container of information equal for all.

Finally, the post-event evaluation to understand how he allowed an app , which should be focused not so much on the number of downloads (most linked to communication) but actual use . If 70% of the delegates have downloaded the app, but has used it only twice during the entire event it means that something did not work and that the investment was not profitable. The analysis must also investigate how the app was used and what functions they have had much success in future events, so it may be more suitable for participants.
